Cracking Nuts

"I'm not very fond of walnuts," said Teddy.

"Me neither," Nesbitt replied, as he struggled with the nut cracker.

"I'm not particularly fond of the peanut..."

"The humble peanut? Why so?"

Teddy examined the peanut he held in his paw.

"Look at it, it's so inconsequential, so little reward for so much effort... hardly enough to feed a small child, or bear, if you will."

At that moment Nesbitt cracked open the walnut.

"I see what you mean... look at this..."

Nesbitt proffered the infinitesimal inner nut.

"I have no interest in viewing that nut," Teddy said imperiously, waving Nesbitt away. "Fetch me a beer instead."

A few minutes later Nesbitt returned with two ice cold bottles of Becks. The two bears sat in their office watching the rain fall against the window. The TEZNEZCO! clock ticked loudly as the air conditioning made the My Little Pony 2003 Calendar flutter in the breeze.

"Wasn't there something we were supposed to be doing?" asked Nesbitt.

Teddy shrugged.

"Something... important...something to do with something... er...", Nesbitt continued, trying to remember whatever it was he was trying to remember.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Teddy said as lazily flipped through a copy of Bacon Busters.

"Oh never mind," Nesbitt said.

Teddy looked up.

"Do you think Holly looks like a Gonk?"

Teddy was about to ask the question again when he realised that Nesbitt had suddenly fallen asleep.

"Perhaps we shall never know," Teddy said to himself. "...never know."

“This diary cracked me up, completely, perhaps the oddest diary I have ever read. I'm not sure if it's a takeoff on something or someone that I have somehow missed. Regardless, TEZNEZCO! chronicles the adventures of two bears and describe them as if they are a minority of some sort. The writing is disturbingly matter-of-fact as if it is perfectly normal to be writing about these bears as people. I like it; it's pleasantly novel" - Diaryreview
