Dear [...]

I am writing to protest at the representation of my practice in the written piece by Mr. Oaf accompanying my inclusion in your recent [...]list.

I very much dispute the assertion that am influenced by Dale Frank and Juan Davila. I have once mentioned Juan in an interview. Dale as an influence I have mentioned never. We had two joint shows together.

The whole tone of Oaf's piece is condecending. No other artist listed has a list of local artists they are suppossedly indebted to. The tone of many of your commentries is partisan indeed.

My surf paintings are indebted to Ian Burn "Blue Reflex" works and more specifically the 60's L.A. 'finish fetish' artists: John McCracken et al. I could go on about the matrix of influences in contemporary Australian art but that's not my job. Although that leaves it to your writers which is a pity.

This is the last time I will give permission to use my images without approving any text that accompanies. If this means I somehow miss out on publicity, so be it.

Please note none of this is for publication.

yours sincerely

Scott Redford

“This diary cracked me up, completely, perhaps the oddest diary I have ever read. I'm not sure if it's a takeoff on something or someone that I have somehow missed. Regardless, TEZNEZCO! chronicles the adventures of two bears and describe them as if they are a minority of some sort. The writing is disturbingly matter-of-fact as if it is perfectly normal to be writing about these bears as people. I like it; it's pleasantly novel" - Diaryreview
